OSR094 Freies Wissen in der Wissenschaft #WMDE [DE]

In diesem Jahr startete bereits der zweite Durchlauf des Fellow Programms Freies Wissen – einem Gemeinschaftsprojekt von Wikimedia Deutschland, dem Stifterverband und der VolkswagenStiftung (und weiteren Unterstützern). Dieses Programm will „Nachwuchswissenschaftlern die Möglichkeit geben, sich mit Expertinnen und Experten aus den unterschiedlichsten Fachdisziplinen zu vernetzen und von deren Erfahrung in der Praxis der Offene Wissenschaft zu profitieren. Das hehre Ziel ist, dass nicht nur der so erlernte offene Umgang mit den unterschiedlichen Aspekten und Aufgaben von Wissenschaft Eingang in die Forschungspraxis der Fellows findet, sondern diese auch diese Ideen und die eigenen Erfahrungen als Multiplikatoren in die eigenen Organisationen tragen. Die beiden Programm-Verantwortlichen bei Wikimedia, Sarah Behrens und Christopher Schwarzkopf, erzählen im Gespräch mit Konrad mehr über die Idee, die Motivation, den bereits erfolgreich absolvierten ersten Durchlauf, sowie den gegenwärtigen Durchlauf und die Zukunft des Programms. As last year, Konrad visited the WikiCite 2017 event that seeks out „…to design a central bibliographic repository, as well as tools and strategies to improve information quality and verifiability in Wikimedia projects.“ This year he took the opportunity to do a couple of interviews with participants.

This interview is with Jodi Schneider, who is a researcher in Linked Data, Argumentation, Scholarly Communication and Computer Supported Collaboration (CSCW), currently working at the School of Information Sciences of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She brings quite a bit of experience from biomedical citation networks to the WikiCite table. Enjoy!

This interview is with David Shotton and Silvio Peroni, both running the OpenCitations project that seeks to an create an „…open repository of scholarly citation data made available under a Creative Commons public domain dedication, which provides in RDF accurate citation information (bibliographic references) harvested from the scholarly literature.“ Enjoy!
